PAST

Conducted study to compare conventional tooth brushing with use of traditional mango leaf (for oral hygiene) south karnataka subjects. E-mail to get a copy of the published article on this subject.

Conducted a survey to assess the needs for continuing education, among general dental practitioners.

Started a newsletter to cater to continuing education needs of GDP's, titled "Your Practice Builder" which is presently in the eight issue, over 20,000 copies mailed. It’s a quarterly publication.

Published a book "Restorative dentistry in daily practice- a guide to the use of dental amalgam, composites resins and glass ionomers". See photo ---------------------

Visited Halmstad, Sweden to study the implementation of dental preventive programs and took guidance from Dr. Lars Petersson.

Conducted a school dental health checkup and education program for 25,000 school children of Belgaum. See photograph. -------------

Lectured to District health workers and guided them regarding dental disease prevention.

Conducted a continuing education program at Dental College, Bagalkot on tooth bleaching, diastema closure and class IV restorations.

Conducted a dental checkup camp for children of Benson's school at Yamanapur. village.

Lectured on "Internet and health" to two engineering colleges and St. Paul school, Nov. Dec. 1998

Conducted "Teachers training Program" regarding oral health on 6 and 7th Jan.1998, for 300 teachers from 145 primary schools of Belgaum. See photo

IN PROGRESS

Building to house an auditorium, charity dental clinic and oral cancer research center is nearing completion.

Survey to assess fluoride in drinking water in Bijapur district is in progress, to plan long term caries prevention programs.

Process of adopting two schools on long term basis is underway.

Production of educational videos in progress.(for dentists)

Teachers training program to be conducted shortly.(done)

Working to create low cost caries prevention models suitable for India. These will be tested and most effective ones will be recommended to be implemented at national level.

Working to establish a center for Non traditional therapies.

Seeking support for conducting a national seminar on Usefulness of Fluorides for dental caries prevention to counter antifluoride lobby. Support from large companies solicited.

Seeking support to establish a Research center for community programs and for evaluation of dental materials used in India.

Seeking support for a mobile dental clinic to give dental treatment to poor children in villages.
