Needle Re sheathing aid
Sharp items contaminated with patient blood and saliva should be considered as potentially infective and handled with care to prevent injuries, especially needlesticks. Used needles should never be recapped or otherwise manipulated using both hands, or any other technique that involves directing point of a needle toward any part of the body. Either a one handed "scoop" technique or a mechanical device designed for holding the needle sheath should be employed.
Quayle dental Guard Aid is a needle resheathing aid. It is a small device which can be attached to work surfaces, cabinets, trolleys, trays etc. During injection, the syringe, with the contaminated needle, is placed directly into the sheath which is held by the Guard aid, while the other hand is kept well clear, thus avoiding the risk of needlestick. Both the detachable cover and the base unit are sterlisable, by autoclaving or dry heat sterilization.
Single component, single application adhesive
Vivadent has brought out Syntac sprint, an improved product over Syntac single component (YPB 2.1:1997). Syntac single component had brought down the number of steps in dentin bonding, but it necessitated multiple applications.
Syntac sprint requires only one application, it is quick and easy to use. It is a light curing single component adhesive indicated for the direct adhesive technique with composites and compomers. It is technique tolerant to moisture and can there fore be used on both moist dentin (wet bonding technique) and dry dentin. It is used in conjunction with total etch technique.
